Vancouver Mural Festival 2021

Project

The mural “No Arrival” was painted after more than a year in relative isolation as a result of the global COVOD-19 pandemic. I wanted to create an image that expressed expansiveness. A path forged by walking through space. Freedom of location and movement.

The subject matter combined with an unusually shaped canvas determined the composition. Without a typical rectangular proportion to situate the image a frame-like graphic device holds the figures. Rigid but elegant art deco style graphic elements juxtapose the flowing and dynamic protagonist. It’s a story of contrast. Action in stillness. Architecture in the wilderness.

A journey with no moment of arrival.

Painted at Container Brewing as part of the 2021 Vancouver Mural Festival.
